12 days and...

Babies and diapers. They go hand-in-hand. Oh God, do they ever. So many diapers. *sigh* We are over half way through our weekly load and it is only Friday. *Waaa!*

Things are going okay I suppose. I must say, it is a bit frustrating not getting that recognition from my son yet. He just continues to look at me like he has no idea who I am or he continues to look to his left, like there is some floating ghost orb watching over him. I just hope he is turned that way cause he just likes the left boob. Who knows?

There isn't much to tell at this stage. Motherhood is taking up a good portion of my time. Tiredness never effected me this bad before. It's a good thing I get a year of Maternity Leave here. I don't know how I would cope anywhere else. Also, Lee is home with me for a month. I don't know what I would do if he wasn't here to help.

Not much else to say. Just scroll back up and look at the pic. There isn't much else here.

Birth Announcment

Brandon Owen Conrad was born via cesarean section, Tuesday April 18th, 2006 around 10:10pm.

The first thing I said when I took at look at him was, "He looks funny." Yeah, I seriouly did. Lee was able to be with Brandon while he was being cleaned up, weighed, measured, and fed. Lee captured the first moments of life. They are all here recorded on on our camera. Lee loves to show them off everytime we have someone drop by. And we have added others since then. Mommy and daddy holding Brandon and we even captured his first hiccups. (Aw!) Yeah, and he's had them at least 10 times since then. Poor little guy. And there's nothing I can do take them away.

Bringing Brandon into this world did not go how I planned, but he is healthy and eats like the "Cookie Monster". You know, the good Cookie Monster. The one that just eats cookies. And for an added bonus, he is a quiet baby. He does not do a whole lot of wailing. Only when he is being changed (Oh, the trauma! A clean bum!) and, when his clueless parents are interpreting his signals all wrong. He scowls just like his mother. It's true. But he smells nice. To me anyway. I just love to cuddle him. I bet he likes that too. See, I knew little boys liked to cuddle. (See first Blog)

Not much to tell after that. I could talk about the some of the crappy nurses I encountered at the hospital and how I stayed up all night to cuddle my son cause I thought the nurses were not that helpful. "And I don't give a shit about it being busy or the fact that you are short staffed. My baby is crying for me, I can't get to him cause I can't move. I need you to come help me." Yeah, it is very frustrating being 2 feet from your son, when he needs you and you just can't cross that distance to get to him. (Sigh!) I don't want to think about that anymore.

The family has been home since Friday night. The visitors have been coming by slowly. Thankfully! We did not want to be bombarded with guests. So, anyone wanting to come by, CALL FIRST! You will not wake the baby. But you might wake me. You do not want to visit a cranky Mary.

The sleepless nights are truely...sleepless. I hear my child wimper and I wake up instantly. Lee, does not. He is dead to the world. Damn him!

You know, diaper changing isn't really that bad. I wouldn't say I am an old pro or anything, but it's getting to be a quicker job each time I do it. I enjoy taking care of him and feeding him and cradling him. As tired as I get sometimes, I don't want to put him down. But then I must do what is best for everyone and put the baby down and then myself down, so I am not a zombie.

Today, was my first trip away from Brandon, since he has been born. He was left alone with daddy for a few hours. L and T took me out shopping for some nursing bras other essential post-baby things. And of course, I called after about an hour to check on my two boys. They were fine. Brandon even fed while I was gone on some milk that I pumped just before I left. Lee handled it fine. I was just ultra-paranoid. L and T were very sympathetic while I wimped and cried and talked to Lee. I think they understood my baby-blues. It was nice to walk about and chat and kinda put baby aside for a bit.

Okay, I must go and get some rest while my son is resting. I will Blog again sometime. I can't say when. I don't know when I will be mobile enough to get down the stairs and check my Blog. But I will send Lee down and he can update it for me. So please add comments, I would love to hear from all of you.

Past Due

I am officially past my due date now. This kid is going for "over-cooked" it looks like. I hate overcooked food. What does that mean when it's a baby?
Oh dear...it can't be good.

He keeps psyching me out for labour and then pulls back and says, "Fooled You!" Today I want to get him going, so I will be doing what I can to get this baby out. So, that means lots of activity. Here goes nothing...

No baby...yet

I thought I went into labour last night. No such thing. The contractions are getting less severe and less frequent. I've been duped!

Fuck it! I want some chocolate!

Early Morning

Yes, I am still waiting for my child to make up his bloody mind and get born already. I have one more day to go before deadline. Maybe he wants to arrive on his due date. I have no idea. Let's hope so.

Right now, I cannot sleep. I woke up at 4am with some crampiness. So I got up and turned on the TV. Star Trek the Motion Picture was playing on Space. So, I watched that for a while. Unfortunatly, it was not the special edition. Too bad.

I tried going back to bed 45 minutes later and I was just distracted by a dull ache. I couldn't find sleep to save my life. So, half hour later, I got up again. Now, I am here. Trying to distract myself. Great.

Hopefully, sleep will come get me...soon....or even....now.

Waiting...

Well, it is almost 1 week later and still no sign of the little guy. I get twinges here and there, and I think labour will come on soon, but no, it is all in my head. So, I am walking around trying to intice this kid to come out. But again, nothing. No good. This kid is either stubborn or wants to be fully cooked before he comes out. Right now, I am at 39 weeks pregnant. He only has one week left to decide to come out or not. Then, I start the rigorous treatment to get him out.

On a happier note, the baby's room is pretty much ready. We have dressed the crib, we have a change table, toys are on display. He has a stroller, car seat, diapers, wipes, clothes etc. We have the basics covered. "Anytime now...hurry up..."

Okay I had a couple of dreams last night. One, where I was waitressing back in the bar. And I was 39 weeks pregnant in the dream. I don't know why I keep having dreams about waitressing. I will never go back there. Why?

Also, I had a dream I was getting ready to breastfeed my child for the first time. I was having trouble getting the milk going. Finally, this thick off-white milk did come. Then I put the child on the breast. I wasn't sure I had him securely. I pulled him off to check. And he pulled my nipple off. It didn't hurt, much. Then I was trying to get him on the other boob and that one wasn't producing any milk. It was weird.

It feels odd to be off work. I don't feel like I am contributing, just sitting here, having a baby. Maybe taking care of one, will be more work. As long as he doesn't tare my nipple off!

Life on Hold

Well, i saw my Doctor yesterday and found out a couple of things.

One, I lost my mucus plug. For those, who don't know what that is, the seal is broken. My water is still intact. But conditions are ready for labour at ANY TIME. So, my life is going to stay HOME, for now. Just in case. My Doc's final verdict was: I could hold out for a week or so, but if she had to put money on it, she thinks I will go into labour this week. She may have jinxed me now. Watch, I'll go a week overdue. Ah...joy.

That and I AM FREE! I have no more work! They all wished me well and a happy....something...to do with pregnancy and labour and a kid. I don't know. Yeah, I still can't wrap my head around that yet.

It's weird, I have an overwhelming urge to tidy my house up today. I don't why.
