Blog

So, my brother's blog. I like it.
Here is a link to it, for those of you who want a frame of refrence. And check it out. It is cool and full of useful information.

http://blog.scifi.com/tech/

I'll start with the low end details and go up from there. The backgroud is a nice colour. There aren't a lot of ads. In fact, I think there is only one. Just printed 3 times. That is nice not to be bombarded by ads. I suppose, because it is a Blog, they wanted to keep it simple. Hence solid colouring, a few basic ads. Good. Flashiness will then take away from the content. Which is the whole point.

I am not computer savy, but I found the site quite easy to navigate. I think any basic computer user could look for information on the site. The menu on the right doesn't feel quite right. I think it is missing something. Maybe it's the font. I don't know. Hot Topics I would move. Most sites tend to have that stuff as the fore-front of their page. But maybe that's not what they want. Despite my objections to the above, it very much looks and organized and presented to look like a blog. Which it is. So, it does work.

Have I read any of the blogging? A few. I like the blogs short and sweet. Once you bring in Techno-babble, the regular Joe might tune it out and not pay attention to what they are reading. The posts are just long enough to keep a person reading. Also, it is interesting to read about gadgets and gizmos that I will never come across. Unless I was in New York. And some of it, I wish I could get here. The Sony all in one system would be nice.

I'm still not sure about the RSS thing. I don't know what that is all about. Maybe someone can explain it to me.

I think that is about it. Not a lot of flash but the content is there. It does almost seem to be a bit empty. It feels like there should be more. But the site is new. I think the growth of the blog will come in time.

So, anybody who didn't click the link, scroll back up and check it out. Ignore everything I wrote and cast your own opinions. Maybe make a comment on what you thought of the site. Hey, you can email my bro and tell him what you think. I'm sure he'd love the feedback.

New Blog...finally

Finally, I am motivated to write again. Nothing much to update though.

Saw the Doc a couple of days ago. The pregnancy is still going great. So that is one worry I do not have. Most of my stress is getting ready for my Mat Leave. But that is a whole other story. Which I won't go into here.

I finished season 1 of Battlestar Gallactica. Wow! What a freakin' awesome show. I love Edward James Olmos. He's great! And Starbuck as a woman, I like her. She is like, "The New Buffy". Meaning she is my new feminine hero. She is so awesome and arrogant and tenacious and deep down has a good heart. I guess she is a lot like me then. Boy, that is thinking highly of myself, isn't it? But it is not just a good action show, but a good drama.

So last night, Lee thought I should see the origional Battlestar Galactica. To make a comparision, I guess. And boy, did that suck. It had vague potential, but it was tough to get through. The dialogue was just so cornball and crappy. The effects were crap too, but that is a sign of the times. Kind of like the origional Star Trek. That is forgivable. And the origional cast of the pilots and Odama was okay. But, man did it blow. I can't believe it launched a series. Let's just say, I will not be watching anymore of the old stuff.

Tonight is the beginning of game, Serenity 2.0. I am really looking forward to how 2 new players are going to change the dynamic of the story. I'll be interested to see where it goes.

Oh, I also haven't slept since about 2am. So, I am a little cranky. I just fed myself some sugar for breakfast to keep myself awake. I hope the kid doesn't mind. Seriously, what kid would?

Well, I am off to see the Wizard. Any requests?

Change of Plans

Well, swimming didn't work out. But hopefully a visit will, later this afternoon. Until then, I will...I don't know. Maybe I will nap.

Sunday Morning

I have watched as many Doogie Howser re-runs as I think I can stomach right now. So, I decided to call L & P. I was bored. What the hell. So, P amused me for a bit. Then L invited me out swimming. Hmmm....swimming or laundry? Tough decision. Yeah, I went for the bouyancy.

Craving

I am seriously craving a McDonald's cheeseburger. I want to lick the bun.

Saturday Morning

Well, I took one look at my husband this morning, after he trimmed and cleaned up his beard and I have come to the conclusion that he looks very '80's. Yeah, he sure does. I wonder what he will do with that thought.

On Thursday, Lee and I met the Doulas. We loved them. They made us feel very comfortable right away. We have decided to have them we our Doulas for the birth. I am feeling very comfortable and excited about this decision.

I fell down yesterday. I was helping Lee with the flyer route and I tripped on a step. At the first house, no less. I am flew forward and protected myself by falling on my right arm. Man alive, did that hurt. So here I am, lying on someone's lawn, clutching my arm and sobbing in pain. I felt like such a baby. (Don't say anything.) So I managed to pull myself up and continue on for a bit. I helped with half the route. Then I stayed home while Lee finished the rest. But after that rest, my arm was so sore. I couldn't lift anything with it, without an ache. I still can't. Nothing seems to be broken or anything. I will mention it when I see my doctor next.

Based on some advice from a friend of mine, (whom I just messaged with) I have decided to omit the paragraph you would be reading here. He advised it was a bad idea to bitch about work on your blog. You know, I think he is right. So, instead I leave you with this.

Well I see by the clock on the wall.
That it's time to bid you one and all.
Goodbye (Goodbye)
So long (So long)
Farewell (Farewell)
Adieu (Adieu)
Be good (Stay Well)
Bye Bye (Keep Warm)
Relax (And Eat)
Take Care (Stay Loose)
Adieu mon vieux. A la prochaine.
Goodbye 'til when we meet again!

St.Valentine's Day

Today, Lee and I have been married for 3 years. Holy crap! 3 years! Wow, that's longer than Jennifer Lopez has been married to anybody! That's awesome!

Lee had a gift for me. (Damn him! I didn't get him anything!) Anyways, he worked really hard on a KISS song. My favourite in fact. "Sure Know Something". What he did was sing vocals while two of his friends recorded the soundtrack and mixed the two together. It was unexpected but good. I can't believe Lee can sing. I never heard him sing before. Maybe we should go to Kareokee. NAH! We snuggled and listened to Paul Stan...no Lee singing "Sure Know Something." It was cute. I need to hear it again.

Lee and I both took the day off. We slept in. (For like an extra hour.) Then we got up and Lee went to do something. I'm not sure what. I parked my butt on the couch and caught up on what Jack Bauer did last night. God, Kiefer Sutheland is intense! I love it. Then...

We got dressed and out and of the house around 10am. We picked up some flowers for our moms and some chocolate. We delivered them to my mom at home and we stopped by Vic Comp and delivered them to Lee's mom. Both were quite delighted to get a present. I think we made their day. I hope so. We were invited to join Lee's parents at BP's for dinner. Like us, they were planning to share a heart shaped pizza. Why not? I was thinking of having dinner with them again. Tonight seems fine.

An interesting surprise happened today. Something I would never have thought of. Lee and I were at Kingsway, having lunch. (Well, he had a lunch. I had two.) We picked up some DQ for dessert and started walking around. I felt someone touch my shoulder and I turned around. It was my old best friend. It was like we were back in time. She had long hair again. She hadn't had long hair since junior high, I think. We briefly caught up. She noticed I was VERY pregnant. I told her about the house etc. etc. She still worked at the same youth centre. She is living on her own by West Mount and looked very happy. It was really nice to see her. We exchanged numbers and will hopefully be able to hang out sometime. Don't know about that with my lack of mobility. But I would like to try. Anyways, it was just nice.

Lee and I came home around 2pm and...had a nap. Can you believe it? Not anything romantic or sexy. We just SLEPT together. The bed was warm and cozy. We just snuggled and slept. Is this what it has come down to? Quality time with one's husband is being able to snuggle and snooze? *sigh* Too bad you can't bank sleep for when you need it. Double *sigh* I'm not saying the sleep was bad or anything. It's just...sleeping together, literally, is very nice, but not spectacular. An orgasim is spectacular. Sleep...is just cozy and refreshing. But I'll take the sleep. Afterall, it is nice.

Thanks For the Stuff

I got home yesterday and there was a package waiting there for me. This one was clearly marked that it was from Amazon.com. It was my birthday gift from my brother. (The one in New York.) He got me Doogie Howser MD season 1 and a book if essays on the TV show Angel. I haven't had much of a chance to enjoy either one of them yet. But I will. It will be nice to see some young Neil Patrick Harris. But last night, we had our last pre-natal class to go to and also, my other brother came over the night previous and got my hooked into Battlestar Gallactica. Yes, the new one. Well, he just started me off with the mini-series. I was reluctant to give it a try, cause I had heard mixed reviews about it. But, now I want more. Well, at least I will have plenty to watch durring my Mat leave.

Now, today another package arrived. Now, I have the soundtrack to Curious George. There is nothing like a little Jack Johnson to relax you. Ah, this is nice. I think he is making the baby kick or punch or whatever. Good job Jack!

So, yesterday at the last pre-natal class they decided to show us a video on 5 different couples going through the whole labour and birth process. Man alive! I don't like any of those options. I don't think I will be giving birth now. I'll keep this kid nice and cozy, thanks.

Pizza is almost ready. Ciao!

Ice Cream

Right now, I am craving ice cream. Smooth vanilla soft serve with strawberries on top....mmmm. Maybe I can talk my brother into taking me for ice cream tonight. How about it?

Right before I woke up, I was going swimming with my co-workers. As soon as I got into the pool, the water was warm and boyant. I was lovin' it. I was on my side, I didn't feel pregnant. It was relaxing and great. Then my crappy alarm woke me up.

Before that, I was in a store, trying to buy some Maple Buds. Hey, anybody remember Maple Buds? Those were a great candy. I miss Maple Buds. They were a mouth-watery chocolat-y candy that was just simply delicious. Damn, I want some right now. Unforunatly, you get them anywhere. Not even online. Trust me, I looked.

When Lee got home yesterday, he fed me and I was happier. Yesterday's crappiness must've been due to hunger angst. So we stayed in and watched Clone Wars Vol 2 and Xmen 2. I don't know what it is, but I am feeling very geeky right now.

Oh, one more neat thing from yesterday, I played junior some music to see what he would like. One or two punches durring heavy beats. I played him the theme to "The Practice". Maybe he didn't like that one. After I switched to something dreamy, like classical piano and classic movie themes. I frequently felt steps on my bladder. (Which reminded me it was full.) I think he was dancing in there. That's cool!

Right Now

Well, right now I am pissed off! Mostly for no reason. I am not in a good mood. Maybe it's because I haven't eaten. Oh well.

Last night, I had a dream I was mad at my brother. I was being all bitchy about something stupid and my brother kinda gave in and then I felt guilty and tried to change my mind. By then, it was too late. I didn't like it.

Work is annoying. They are bringing Darcey over from AR to be my replacement while I am away on Mat leave. Darcey is smart and I feel a bit intimidated by him. Tomorrow, he will start coming over for training. WTF? I have 2 months! Why don't I get a bit of time to finish my shit and then have him move in? I'm not prepared. This sucks!

I'm debating whether I want to go to a movie tonight. I am becoming too much of a home-body already. I would rather stay home than go out. Does that happen when you are having kids or do I just like staying home?

Whatever. I gotta go. I am too pissy right now!

The Nesting Urge

So, apparently, according to my all my co-workers, I am starting my nesting urge. I took the last two days of work last week, to clean my office cubicle. I threw out all the junk I didn't need, dusted my files and made sure everything was setup nicely for my temp in March. Yeah, and they all laughed at me, cause they think I am nesting. It might be true. Cause yesterday, what did Lee and I do all day? We cleaned the house. Seriously. We filed all the important documents, junked all the un-needed stuff and through out tons of trash. The place looks really nice now. Later, we saw my parents for a belated birthday dinner. We stayed late to watch Star Wars Episode III with them. That was a fun. I think mom really enjoyed it. Dad was kind of indifferent. (Surprise, surprise.) But overall, I had a nice visit.

And of course, no entry would be complete without my sleep woes. I woke up at 3am with a headache and incredible nausea. Not just regular nausea. Incredible nausea. It did not feel like I was hungry. I think it was a gas...thingy. Everytime I sat up, I burped and felt a bit better. Lee was up with me, trying to comfort me. He kept suggesting I eat something. But I didn't think I could do it. Eventually, I broke down. I took 2 Tylenol and drank some ginger ale. That seemed to help. The headache and nausea went away. Lee and I stayed up eating chocolate ice cream and watched a re-run of SNL hosted by Bill Murray. It was so old, Will Farrell was still on the show. Bill even did a skit with Chevy Chase. You know it is sad, when the veteran guests are actually funnier than the regular cast. Oh, how SNL has fallen.

I went back to bed and had a wierd dream about "War of the Worlds" which later ended up at a burlesque. And that is all I am going to say about that.

Night Time

So, Wednesday night I slept through the night. I know, I can't even believe it myself. I got 5 straight hours of sleep. Boy, did I need it. And boy, could I have gone for some more. But, after being well-rested. I felt better. I was more energized through out the day, I had a better disposition. I even felt better about being pregnant. I never knew what I was missing. It was just great. Let's just say, I got a lot of work done yesterday. Then, last night, not so good a sleep. I was up at 3am with massive heartburn. Massive proportions of heartburn. Oh man, did that suck. I got up several times to get a glass of water. Nice cool water. It took the edge off, for a time. But the heartburn flared right back up. Nothing would help. Until I cuddled with Lee. I turned him over, so I could sleep on his side. He seemed okay with it. Until I asked him this morning about his sleep. Apparently, his arm was being drapped over the side of the bed and he was uncomfortable. Oh man, I traded his comfort for mine. That sucks. I shouldn't have to do that. Tonight, hopefully we will get it right.

Also, I had dreams about bisexuals and they were yelling at me like I was discriminating against them. And apparently, I slept with one of them, who was dating someone I knew. It was wierd. And my work computer got screwed up cause somehow, P's blog infected my computer with his "Attempting to give a damn" program. My boss couldn't even figure it out.

Then, it was Lee's birthday and for a present, his friend Des and Des's father helped re-arrange the furniture in our house and arrange for a party afterwards. And I was still pregnant in this dream. Considering Lee's birthday is April 29th and I am due April 15th. Yeah, I know. Anyways, we suddenly had all these chairs in our living room. The couches were apparently in our "den". And the house looked different. It was similar to the one I was in when I lived with Russ. Yeah, lets forget that episode quickly. And all our friends were there. I mean everybody. It was large gathering with beer. That's all I remember.

Alright, off to work I go.

Great Friends

You know, I have great friends. They all came by tonight to wish me a happy birthday. Not for any reason other reason, but to share in the joy of knowing me. That was wonderful. I am glad to know such good people.

That and I finally got to experience a diaper change. Interesting. It was more complex than I had thought. Well, maybe because the baby was squirmy. But, I could probably do my own solo diaper change, if I get easy level first.

Anyways, back to me....no seriously. Today was a great day. Work was eh...normal. Then after work. I had some good pizza. Got a massage from my friend D. Then people just started to arrive at my house. They were happy and fun and happy. Just to be here. Some came from the farthest end of the city (south) just to come here and enjoy some cake. I can't say enough about these people. Awesome! Thank you. I am filled with much happiness. Ah crap! Now I won't be able to get to sleep. It'll take forever to get...zzzzzzzz.

Birthday Girl

Happy Birthday to me! I am Queen today!

I am 27 years old today. Eh...it doesn't feel that special. Well, tonight I get to celebrate with my friends at home. We are all having cake and ice cream. What would a birthday be without cake and ice cream? Not fun! Not special. Not about me.

What would the world be like without me? *Jimmy Stewart moment*

Yeah, that's what I thought.
