Christmas Time Is Here
Tomorrow is Christmas Eve. The gifts are wrapped, the house is slowly but surely getting tidy and, my brother is here. We are almost ready for Christmas to arrive.
The theme for Christmas is this year is: Spoil-a-Brandon. Well, we sure are. Everyone is. What a lucky little punk! And all he'll want to do is play with the empty toy boxes and wrapping paper. *sigh*
Hopefully, without jinxing anything, Brandon has been sleeping through the night. The move of his crib, into his own room, was the best damn choice we ever made. If his schedeule gets messed up, he might rise in the middle of the night, but otherwise he is down till sometime after 7am. Yes!
I want to say I am happy. I am happy right now. I am looking forward to Christmas Day. I want to see the joy on everyone's faces when the open their gifts. That is better than any gift I will receive. I am looking foward to Boxing Day too. Christmas time wouldn't mean as much if you couldn't share it with your friends as well your family. Cause friends are my extended family. I am so grateful for mine. They are awesome! I couldn't ask for a better one. Thank you! Merry Christmas! I love you all!

Why Deleted?
Anyways, since my exam, I have dreamt about accounting twice. What the fuck does that mean? God only knows.
Right now I am reading a novel I have been waiting to read since I started this course. Hopefully, I should finish it sometime today. Pending on how needy Brandon is.
Now my current dilemna is (I am saying cause I need some suggestions or adivce) is where to put up the Christmas tree. I need lots of room for under the tree cause there will a huge amount of presents under the tree. Why? Cause we are hosting Christmas with my family this year. That and there will many presents for Brandon, no doubt. But with Brandon's ever increasing strength, he will be able to grab branches and possibly pull it down...on himself. I don't want that. And thirdly, what about extension cords? Brandon likes to grab extension cords and lick the prongs. That's a no no! Can't have that. So anyone who knows the layout of my upstairs living room, please suggest what I can do to keep it baby friendly as possible.
My idea on it: I really would love to have the tree in the middle of the window. (There is nothing quite as lovely as walking by a house and seeing a Christmas tree all lit up. *sigh*) Anyways, but that would involve the cord for the lights dangling to an electircal outlet. That's a no no! Maybe we could pin it up, below the window frame? I don't know. Any thoughts?

Kind of Karmic
:)
Brandon is on the mend. He is still sick, but he is not coughing as much as yesterday. I, on the other hand, am worse. When I sneeze, it is so dramatic and loud, Brandon would jump if he could. It is so powerful, it takes my breathe from my lungs. Uh! I hate not being able to breathe. Uh!
:(
What the Fuck Does that Mean?
My household is sick. Very sick with colds. Even Lee is sick. And he hardly ever gets sick.
I found myself watching the origional Battlestar Gallactica yesterday. That show isn't too bad. I might check out some more.
Must go, my nose is plugged and Brandon is awake.
In other words
Mus go, my nobe is blugged ub and Bandun ib awaig.

Where Can I Find Study Time?
Anyways, just to update you all, I just received my last in class mark.
98%
Yeah, not bad.
And you know what? The mark means nothing. Well, not nothing. But I can't take it with me. My in class marks count as 0 toward my final grade. My final exam is 100% of my final grade. Talk about pressure. And a 4 four fucking exam! What if I have to pee? I can't hold it that long. Christ! I guess I am not going to be drinking as much water that day. A shame. I would prefer to remain hydrated.

Before the Final
60%, 96%, 83%, 82%, 95%, 96%, 95% and I am waiting for the last one to be graded.
And you know what? That 60% is on the Available for Sale, Held to Maturity, Held for Trading investments. I guess I better brush up on that stuff before the final. Cause I will have to know it.
Anyways, Brandon is alseep, hence why I am updating. I will also be going over to my work place to visit today. I had a dream about it last night. I went back to work and all I wanted to do was goof off and surf the net. I wonder if this is a sign?

This Seriously Did Happen
Me: There are two methods of translating foreign currency financial statements. The current mothod and temporal method. And depending if the parent and subsidiary have an integrated relationship depends on which method you use. You have to translate, line by line, using the correct exchange rate for that item. Then, you can use what was learned in the previous modueles and consolidate the financial statements.
(Lee turned towards me.)
Lee (singing): It's fun to charter an accountant. And sail the high accounting seas...
I was so mad. I thought he was making fun of me. Lee laughed and told me it was Monty Python. Apparently, they make fun of accountants regualarly in Python. Really? Sounds....interesting.

A Mother's Advice
To make a long story short, I asked my mom what she did with us (my brothers and I) when we got clingy at night. I specifically asked if she just let us cry it out in our crib until we fell asleep. She said, "Never." Like me, she thought it would be cruel. *I know where I get that from now* Mom just toughed out the nights with all of us. Night time was all business though. Changes and feeds, but not playtime. Eventually we all got the idea. I had to leave before I could get more details. I will talk to her more about what I can do tomorrow.
Why I am not at Londonderry Mall Today
So, I opted out of going to hang with my Mom's group today. Because I really don't like hanging out with them. Some of them are okay people. Really. And I don't mind them. But, there are a few I think are absolutely useless. I don't despise them or wish them any ill will. I just don't care for them. I can't relate to these women. I got screwed. I was placed in a group I don't care to know. I didn't like going when we met at the health centre. I only continued to go to get info on stuff. That and I had paid for the sessions. Otherwise I would have stopped going and never returned. Now, I have a choice. I don't care to go. If Brandon is asleep (like now) I should take the time to study or get something done in the house.
I take that as my cue to leave and get something done.

Halloween Party Fun
Thursday, October 26, 2006
So far, so good...
Right now I am learning about Hedging. Hedged Items, hedging items and accounting hedging. Believe it or not, these are all different things. Don't ask me what they are, I don't think I can explain them.
Do you believe it? I am an accountant who likes to spend money.
I was at Kingsway, visiting A and J, I was walking by The Childrens Place and was browsing the sales rack and found all these cute little outfits Brandon could wear. (Plus a shirt that goes great with him Halloween outfit.) I started to snatch them up and walked over to the till and realized, "Wait a minute! I can't afford this stuff. What the hell am I doing? I'm just going to put these on the VISA. (Who already owns my soul.)" So, I turned right around and put back the things I didn't need. (But I bought the Halloween shirt.) It's not as though Brandon doesn't have any clothes. He has quite a few things he can wear right now. So there.
Aside from the clothes I almost bought, I found the best honey in Canada at Kingsway. I bought some Snowkist Honey at Klondike Days one year and have never been able to find it anywhere since. But now I have. And now the bee in me is in love, once again. Yum!

Th Four B's
So far, it works. Someimes.
Until it is fool-proof or unfool-proof, we'll do it till Brandon gets it right. Now, explain to me what I just said.
Well, I am certain I will get a minimum of 70% on the last assignment. That's a good feeling. The one I am doing now, I am sure I can do well on it, also. I just need time. Ha! Time? What's that?
You think being on Mat Leave....wait have I said this before? By George, I think I have. By George? Who's George? I don't know.
Lee is out picking up our deep freeze right now. Yay! Bulk meat!
Last night, I spent half an hour trying to convince my brother into coming back home for Christmas.
Me: It will be Brandon's first Christmas.
Brother: So, he won't remember if I am there.
Me: But wouldn't it be nice, when he looks back on the pictures and saw that you were there....from the beginning?
Brother: Oh, aren't you clever with the guilt trips.
Me: It comes with being a mother. *so true*
Whether he will come down or not is still in the air. I want him to know, whatever he decides, is okay with me. Just be comfortable with your decision. Also, be sure to call us on Christmas Day. You will be missed.
Crazy Thought: One day, maybe we will all do Christmas in New York! I think that would be lovely. And we will all bunk with my brother in his apartment. Right?

Enough Phlem to Choke A Horse
It crept up on me Saturday night. All of sudden I was intensely cold and extremely dizzy. Plus I had a sore throat. I did not have the strength nor care to attend to Brandon. And that was the moment he wanted my attention. Damn!
It continued Sunday. By Sunday night, I had extreme chills. I was wrapped in a blankee and coudn't move. I was still very cold and ached everywhere. My throat felt better, but the rest of me wished I died.
I had a crappy sleep throughout the night and felt a bit better this morning. I was strong enough to work on my assignment for a while. I have 1 question and a bit to go. And nothing balances. Fuck! Am I worried? A bit. Part of me also doesn't care. I know that's bad, but because I feel crappy, that's the way it is.
Now, the chills are returning. My head is dizzy again. And my temperature is worse now than is was this morning. I don't feel like eating much. My throat hurts worse than either of the passed two days, on top of that, I am coughing.
By and by, Brandon is fine. Lee is fine. I hope Brandon has inherited his father's strong constitution.

Nothing But a Crying Baby
Today, if I picked Brandon up, he was fine. If I put him down, cause I want to eat, cause I want to pee, if I want to change his bumn, he cried. And cried like I was causing him pain. He has not slept since around 1pm. If he fell asleep and I tried to move him to his crib, he woke up. And cried.
I love my son but...FUCK! I am at the swearing point. I know he is only cranky cause he is tired, but FUCK!
He is crying even now. I have given him boob. Plenty. I have even supplemented him with solids. Nothing is enough.
Daddy is dealing wtih him. Thank Fucking God! I just don't know how I would cope if I was a single mom. Kudos goes to them.
If I was not the best person to talk to today, I am sorry. Listening to Brandon cry all day was not fun and made me not sympathetic to anyone else's woes. Again, sorry.
I am listening to Chantal Kreviazuk's new album. Finally. I haven't had an oportunity to do so, since I picked it up. It's nice. Too many slow tracks. Will have to give it a few listens before I really can give a verdict.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Cross your fingers. And your toes.

Happy Endings
Allow me for a moment. Today was a tough day for Brandon. And me too. It was Brandon's 6 month shots today. He braved them well. He also got a bonk on our coffee table downstairs. I swear, that boy seeks to get hurt. He's testing his boundries. I understand that. But my heart just leaps out of my chest when he comes tumbling down.
I did the oddest thing today. I was making shepherds pie and I didn't have any butter for the mashed potatoes. So I took a page from my mother's book. I went next door to my neighbor and asked to borrow some from her. She gave me a whole pound. That was awfully nice of her. I think I will bake some cookies with it and give her some of them.
On top of the shepherds pie, I made homemade turkey soup. From scratch. It isn't too bad. It fogged up the windows in my kitchen and made the house nice and warm all day. This was a good day to have a warm house. *smile*
And last but not least, I finally got the finish The Lake House. Lee let me pick it up on DVD. Back in June, Lee called me out of the theatre, to feed Brandon, so I never got to finish it. I must say, I like happy endings.

I Thought I Was So Smart
Well the good thing is a heavy matter from the weekend was resolved thanks to a phonecall late this morning. In fact, I think that was the highlight of my day.
Then I had a pretty good day with my husband and son. It was nice. I was even able to keep up with my assignment. (The Online Discussion)
Then, Lee and I went out to play games with friends. We left Brandon in the care of his Grandma. Well, that didn't work. Brandon didn't want to be without his mommy. We got one hour. Had to come home. Brandon got boob and fell asleep. We left again. An hour later, Brandon is up and screaming and insists on having boob. Had to leave again. This time, we just stayed home. Then Brandon didn't go down for almost 2 hours. Fuck! I love my son, but...Fuckin' Fuck!
And last my online assignment. I made one of my last postings just over an hour ago. And I thought I was so clever I even finished with: "Remember, GAAP are more like guidelines rather than strict rules. There is room for professional judgement." It was all having to do with deeming with which senior team would be more dominant. Since there was nothing specifically saying that being dominant was about being greater in quanitity.
Well, I guess I was WRONG! Fucking Discussion Group!
That and I received my mark for Assignment 1:
60%
Fuckin Marker!
And I got this long 8 page comment back from the marker. I think the marker comments are generic and the same for everybody. At least they better Fuckin' Be! Cause it talked about plagerism and warnings and it broke down just about every fuckin' question. Even the ones I got right. Fuck! Fuckin'!
That it! I'm takin' this fuckin' course through NAIT!
Fuckin' Fuck! Fuck!

What the Crap!
I picked up the graphic novel Lee is reading currently, Marvel Team Up Vol.2, and I read a few pages. Spidey was fighting crime along side the Falcon. Okay. Don't know who that is. But okay. Flipped a few pages ahead and came to new story: Marvel Team up featuring: Spider-Man and Iron Fist. It was the cover page and what I read, made me laugh out loud. (Of course, I don't laugh out loud. This is meant for emphasis purposes only.)

Early Morning
Here's a bit of a guilty pleasure. I enjoyed Canada's Next Top Model. I started watching it, in the beginning, because of Tricia Helfer. She's on Battlestar Gallactica and I wanted to see what she was like when not on the show. She seems pretty cool and down to earth. In fact, I enjoyed the show and found myself caring about who was going to win. Of course, I only had about 8 shows, in total, to go through. Now, I am watching America's Next Top Model. Not the same. A few differences I have noted are: the models are all a cookie-cutter body type. All that is different is the face and the skin colour. All the girls are required to nail each and every shot. It is either, Do or Die. They don't want to Mold anybody into being a model, you have to be It. And the girls are all Diva like. There seems to be confrontations and no one is afraid to step on anyone else. But then, no one is willing to get along with anyone else. It's just too crazy.
I just got an email from S in England. He and his wife just a baby girl! Congrats to the happy parents! He was telling me he was amazed at how many nappies she goes through. I smiled. HA! You just wait...till they are on solids. Ha! Ha!

Enough About Mr. Handsom. More About Me.
Saw Corey yesterday. We we for a coffee and juice at Cafe Mosaics. We chatted and shopped. This time, he took the pictures. Nice change. I got to see his place. The kitchen definitly smells like Russ cooks in it. It is an older home on the south side, but it has character. Will take some pictures some time.
Found out my EX got married. The evil D is married. He married some yankee chick from Georgia. They live here in town on the west end. He still works out in Fort Mac. And I hope I NEVER see them. More him. I wouldn't know what she looks like. Apparently, he still looks like The Karate Kid.
Received some sad news, as well. J.B. passed away 3 years ago. Very sad. He had a massive heart attack. It has been about 5 years since I last stayed with him in Calgary. It was a very stressful time between him and his children. I just hope they are doing okay.
My mom is in the hospital. She had caught a pnemonia and couldn't breathe. The paramedics took her to the Royal Alec. She is receiving oxygen and medication to help clear the fluid in her lungs. She has Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. She will have to have oxygen at home afterwards. She seems very willing to adapt to the change. I am glad she is not in denial about it. I wonder if this will affect her going to her college reunion in October.
Most of that wasn't really about me. But sorta. Not really. Oh nevermind. I'll come up with something better next time.

Lost and Hopeless
The last two really are just trivial. But...maybe, just maybe, I don't have what it takes. Maybe I really should not be in this course. Maybe those feelings of inadequacy and fear that I have been feeling have been trying to tell me something. I have passed the point of dropping out, maybe I should just make my crash and burn a good one.

Sick Together
Today was mom's group day, but I didn't go. Why? I am sick. And so is Brandon. It is his first cold. We caught the cold from I & G on Monday. Cause L has it too. *sigh* Everyone with babies just gets sick. Brandon is in a surprisingly good mood for someone who is sick. Yesterday, Brandon just didn't seem quite like himself. I can't explain it. I just knew, he wasn't feeling fine. In the morning, his enthusiasim just wasn't there and in the afternoon, he took a long nap. He hasn't napped like that since he was a few months old. Hopefully, we will both be well enough to go to the Baby Laptime tomorrow morning. Als
Tomorrow is my first afternoon to watch I & G. I am looking forward to it, surprisingly. I thought I would be dreading it. 3 children under 5, at once. But I think it will be okay.
Right now Brandon is trying to eat his way out of his swing, between coughs. I better go rescue the swing....I mean...him.

So, You Think You're So Cute!

Brandon has wanted nothing but 'boob' today. He whines if he doesn't have it. He whines if he lets go for a second or two. He does nothing but whine. He is now looking at me with a "Why did you make me stop, while you write about me?" look. Aw gees, I need a moment too! These shots were taken on the bathroom floor. Yes, Brandon too, whines when he is not in my presnece. *sigh*

Finally New Pics Will Update

Second, my shiny new hair colours. My friend, R dyed it blonde then put in light blonde and brown highlights. It looks awesome!

I just got an email to attend a CGA orientation. Too bad I cannot go. Lee works Friday night and it is also the day before my sister-in-law's wedding. So, there would be no relative to babysit. And Saturday is the wedding. I feel very screwed. I would have liked to attend.
I had a dream, last night, more likely this morning, that I was back in high school. And art was on my scheduele. I can't even draw a stick man. I remember being in some kind of philasophical class then skipping my next class, amazingly was art, by staying in the current class I was in. Eventually, the teacher had to ask me to leave. I went upstairs to find my next class, but I was lost. Then I woke up.
Oh, we got new furniture yesterday. A swanky new solid oak table that seats 6, plus it extends further. It came with a buffet and hutch, so now I have a place to put my wine glasses and fancy china. Yay!

Crappy Day but Nice Surprises

The day started with promise but so far this.
I do not like my moms group. No one talked to me. I was the only one who was not talking in a little group durring socialize time. I felt very left out.
Well, since that was a bust, who knew where the rest of the day will lead.
But to my surprise, Brandon learned to llift his head up while he was on his front. What an awesome boy! He can even look around and smile. He even tried to crawl a bit. Way to go over-acheiver!
Then, I made something called cuttlefish for supper. It was disgusting. The texture was rubbery. I could not eat my dinner. Lee and I must go out for burgers while we shop for a dining room table. I'll let you know how that goes,

The Wrong Size Calapsable Sunglasses (with UV protection)
First, I go out to find Brandon an outfit for Lee's sister's wedding next week. There are no formal outfits in Brandon's size other than Christining Outfits. Basic formal outfits start at 12months. So, I compromise and buy a 12month outfit that is clearly too big for my son. Mom, said she would be glad to hem it down to fir Brandon. Fine.
Next, I walk back to the car, I am about to put Brandon in his carseat and I notice, on the stroller, a pair of baby sunglasses I saw and put on Brandon to see how cute he would be with sunglasses. Well, I must've put them on the tray and forgot about them. I walked out of the store without paying for them. Dear God, I am now a thief! I kept them. They are cute and they are just a pair of plastic sunglasses (with UV protection). They probably were only $2 or $3 anyways. Besides, the alarm didn't go off cause there was no tag on them. Okay? Okay.
So far, so good. Wait for it.
Lastly, I come home this afternoon and find...my dining room table has calapsed. It caved in in the middle. Right now, it is being suspended by the two chairs that happened to be there, otherwise, I'm sure it would be on the floor. Yeah, not too thrilled about having to buy a dining room set right away. Can't really afford it right now. But I guess life doesn't care about, "Can't afford it right now."
Does anyone know where to buy a good, sturdy, reliable, wood dining room set that will seat 6 or more people? For cheapish? And not IKEA. I don't have a problem with IKEA, I just don't want IKEA for a my dining room.

Quick Update
A quick note, this weekend, I started Brandon a babybook. Yes, I have become a Scrapbooker. And I enjoy it. I am rather good at it too. I started out with 12 pages for the book. That will have to do for now. While I am doing my course, I do not need a pleasant distraction. There are plently enough to go around.
Speaking of my course, I am quite nervous actually. I have major assignments to do each week, plus 2 discussions I must participate in for marks. Holy shit! And most of the material for FA4 is from the CICA handbook. Most of this course is theory. It's not supposed to be. What the hell! I thought it was going to be more...you know...accounting.
Anyways, another update to come soon.
Anyone who was nervous about school or being smart and getting good grades, I could use a pep talk.

Old Friends

Corey eating some gelato.
Corey and I in Organic Roots.
Okay, okay, so I went trigger happy with the camera.Tonight I got to see my friend Corey. I haven't seen Corey in over 5 years. We had quite a bit of catching up to do. (No kidding!) And you know what I realized? I missed Corey. I missed hanging with him. We used to hang in coffee shops everywhere, and we could talk about anything and nothing. It was comfortable. It still is. Being with him tonight, was like nothing had ever changed. I love friendships like that.
