Baby Cuddles

I finally got my back adjusted this morning. Man, do I feel better. Now, I should be able to some excercises to get rid of some of this dead baby weight.

Brandon is sleeping. Clearly, not on me. I can't type with a small child in my arms. He is reluctant to sleep on his own, these days. He is perfectly content to sleep on mommy, but he suddenly becomes a light sleeper when you put him down. I hope that changes eventually.

But for now, my baby sleeps...comforatble and secure.

Mr. Adorable

This pic was too adorable for words. I had to post it.

Today is a good day. Brandon got some vitamin D for the first time today. Of course, he dribbled some of it out. But right after, he smiled at me. I think he liked it. Let's hope he likes it again.

Fussy Baby

Ah, a happier time! I can't say for certain that Brandon is smiling for real, but he is doing the smiling thing a lot more often now. I think it might be real. You can kinda see it in his eyes. But gas is bothering him lots these days. We will just have to wait and see.

Today was a trying day for Brandon and his mother. This morning Brandon woke up with a stuffy nose. Both his nostrils were plugged. He snorts just like his mommy. Poor guy was trying to breathe with a plugged nose. Not fun for anybody. While Brandon wailed and flailed in my arms, I had to patiently use the asperator to remove his boogers. Nothing is gross anymore. I've been spit-up on and pooed on. Snot is minor.

The rest of the day was relatively comfortable for both mommy and baby. Brandon caught up on the sleep he missed last night. I was able to get a few things done around the house. Yay!

After supper, Brandon started having trouble breathing again. The same snort was back. He bawled and wailed and stiffened and flailed. Again, I had to use the asperator to remove his booger. It was painful listening to him cry. I just wanted to hold him and comfort him. But he would have none of it. Nothing would make him stop, till his discomfort went away. But removing the booger wasn't enough. He still cried. Nothing helped. I had to call daddy to help. Daddy seems to have the magic touch.

I hope the night goes as smooth as the day. Ha!

No Consellation

Well I told Lee the vomit was more just a spit-up. There was no stomach wrenching, so it was more than likely just mega spit-up. Not that, that explination makes Lee feel any better. Oh well, it's not supposed to.

Yesterday, I had an hour from hell with Brandon. Yes, only one hour. I was able to figure out what he wanted. EVENTUALLY! That little monster doesn't know what he wants sometimes, I swear. He cried and cried and of course, he can't give me any hints as to what he wants. I changed him, he still cried. I tried to feed him, no he didn't take it, he still cried. I tried to burp him, no burp came, he still cried. I played with him, talked to him, shook his rattle. Nothing. He just kept crying. I tried putting him down, he just got worse. It's frustrating for both parties when they only way we can communicate is through crying. I hope this ends soon. I need more hints.

Last night, Brandon wanted to feed a few times. And of course, by 5am I was taking him out to the couch with me to rest. He was moaning and grunting the bassinet. What is it that this little guy is struggling with? Once he rests with mommy, he is fine. Of course. I don't want him to get too used to it. I would like him to sleep on his own. But there is no rush....just yet.

Uh-oh spit up. Gotta go!

More Puke!

Yes, some more puke came out of my baby's mouth. I swear, I thought he was hungry. I guess he just had a gas bubble in this tummy again. His temp seems to be okay. So, I don't think he is sick. I hate to think I am over-feeding my baby. But he was making suck-suck face. I thought that meant he was hungry. He took the boob like he was starving. And again, so much milk came out of him.

Lee was giving him a bit of milk from a bottle I pumped this morning/ Then, without warning, BLAH! All the milk came up and over Brandon's sleeper and Lee's pants. It went right through to his boxers. Both boys are now a bit cleaner. Lee is in jammies and Brandon in a new outfit. They are now spending some time apart. Lee is reading on the sofa and Brandon is in the bassinet hiccuping.

I have come to the conclusion that babies puke weird. They just look like a stage prop. There is no warning. Just BLAH! He was quite calm about it afterwards too. Puking can't be fun though. For any age.

I Just Wanna Say

Lee is back. His fever is gone and so are his aches. His throat is kinda dry and scratchy. So no kissing for a bit. *sad face* I miss the kissing. Okay not that most of you need to know that. I am just so happy Lee is better. He can help with house and baby. It is very frustrating doing it all yourself. Considering I was feeling alone in baby duty before, I felt REALLY alone these couple of days. I just want to give a special thanks to my brother and my friend A and my friend R for their help these past few days. You really are awesome people. I have amazing friends.

On the topic of amazing friends, I know two very special people. I have decided to shift my focus on to T & H. They are very understanding, supportive and steadfast people. They are one of the new friendships I am very glad for this year. I wish I had started to get to know them sooner. Well so much for regret. I am just going to be a good friend now. Thanks so much for being there for us. When it is my turn, I will be there for you. Thank you so much for lending us all the pregnancy stuff, baby stuff and your time. I think the third, was your best gift.

Better Today

So Lee is feeling better now. He got some much needed rest. Hopefully, this doesn't mean he isn't going to be able to do diaper duty durring the nights. I know Lee is sensitive and needs rest to function, but then it won't be fair to me. I'll find out tomorrow. For now, another night on the couch.

Brandon is okay today. It must've just been a gas bubble in his tummy the other day. My poor babe is beginning to notice his loneliness. He has this certain cry when he wants his mommy. He will wail, but as soon as I am in vie, he just stops and looks at me. If I don't pick him up, then he cries again. He really likes to be held. I bonked his head today. I was lifting him up and tapped his head on the edge of the bassinet. He really didn't like that. (Duh!) I tried to comfort him, but he was hurt and angry it seemed like. How could I have been so cruel? I want to cry now.

Well, he has forgiven me temporarily. He is sleeping comfortably. I'm glad he isn't permanently scarred. Anyways, Brandon is waking and I must go attend him. At least I can make it up by being there.

Not Feeling Well

Not me this time. Lee is sick. He has a fever and a horrible headache. He is downstairs, keeping his distance trying to get better. I brought him some chicken soup a half hour ago. I haven't had much of a chance to check up on him. Brandon is being particularly fussy today.

Well at about 10min to 1pm this afternoon, Brandon threw up all his milk. He was feeding at the time too. He just spit out the boob and then threw up on his right. Milk got into his hair and in his ear. Right now, the quilt is in the wash. I can't beleive how much milk came out of him. There was so much. Brandon cried for a bit and then became quite calm. He was a very brave boy when this all happened. Lee was on the bed, durring all this, trying to cool his dizzy head. I checked Brandon's temperature. His temp was normal. It's just not a happy thing when your child throw's up. Poor Brandon. I am doing my best to comfort him while I take care of Lee. Poor Lee is getting neglected. I should check on him.

My friend A is coming over tonight. Maybe when she gets here I can have her look after Brandon for a small bit of time while I get some laundry and dishes cleaned. I feel like panicing right now. I don't know if I can deal with this. But if I can, then I can do anything.

Do Some Laundry!

Okay well, I called Lee and we are okay again. The burning in hell might be a bit drastic now. So, what that was all about was I felt Lee was not pulling his weight in helping with the baby now that he is at work. I am with Brandon all day, and Lee is at work. Then Lee spends maybe a few moments with Brandon while I fix dinner. We trade him off in the evening (for feedings) and then attempt to go to bed. Then I have to get up with Brandon all night cause Lee has to work in the morning. Lee needs his precious sleep. Well, so do I knucklehead since I am going to be with him at home all day. I don't think he gets it.

Oh great, Brandon is waking up! Maybe when my brother comes over this afternoon I can get a load of laundry in the machine.

Fight Fight Fight

Things you never thought I would say...

I really hate my husband right now and hope he burns in hell!

We had a fight this morning. Pretty obvious isn't it?

I also had this dream, right before I woke up. I was sleeping on the couch (In real life and my dream.) and I was trying to read to the clock on the VCR. I couldn't quite make it out so I started calling for Lee to see if he was still here. Eventually I screamed really loud. Then I heard this shrill scream behind me. It was Lee. He was pissed I was calling for him. Then I started to cry. I couldn't hear him. I couldn't hear anything he said. Then I woke up. And did the same thing in real life. This time I could make out the clock. Lee eventually responded. He had enough time to get ready for work. Now he is gone. Good.

Of course this wasn't what the fight was about. I won't be discussing that here.

So far...

Well, so far I have had a weird medical emergency with Brandon. I had to take him to the Medi-Centre. I had a freak out moment with this pinky-watery stain in his diaper. I have not seen the mysterious stain reappear. So I am not as spazzy. Lee suspects it might actually be the diapers. I don't know. Maybe.

Anyways, I am okay taking care of Brandon on my own. He just doens't allow me to get much done. I leave him on his own for a bit. Just so long as he can see mommy, I think that is okay. But after a while, he wants to be cuddled and starts crying out. I hope I am not over indugling him. I also tend to adorn his cheeks with many kisses. Am I just crazy? I hope not. I don't want to have to have an excuse to kiss him.

I kept having this weird dream last nigh where I was late for the bus. I was buying something at a mall and the clerk hit on me. He asked me to lunch. I was taken aback and then dashed off. I almost missed the bus. Then on the bus, I think I saw Brent. The bus was crowded so I can't be sure. Durring the entire dream I just kept thinking I have been away from my child for almost the entire day and Lee has not called me. Weird.

First Day Back to Work

Well, Lee is going back to work today. He just left. Strange as it may seem, I don't know how I am going to cope without Lee here to back me up. It was nie to have him here to take over looking after Brandon when I needed to do something. Now, I'm not sure I will be able to get things done. Will I even be able to pee? Okay, I know that is a slight exageration, but sometimes this kid cries and I can't help him. It's a relief to be able to hand him over to Lee in those instances. Maybe I will be lucky and he will sleep most of the time.

1 Month Old

Brandon is 1 month old today. I can't believe 1 month has gone by already. My God! Time is flying. But not really. He is still just an infant who is quite moody. He just knows what he needs.

And to top it all off, Brandon has a bad case of baby acne and he has heat rash all over his face. The weather is just too hot for him. He likes to sleep on mommy. His hair gets all wet and matted. It can't be good for him.

I was finally able to do some planting today. I went off to buy some bedding plants and stuff. Well, I am quite pleased with my work. It took me all afternoon, alternating feeding my son, but I managed to plant 3 flower beds and some strawberries and tomatoes. I am sore all over. I hope my flowers thrive. I would be so happy if they do. All I need to do now is keep up weed control. *sigh* Why do I feel this will be the toughest part?

Diaperless Babies?

Yeah, my Dental Hygenist told me about a group of about 20 women in Edmonton who are involved in a program called Diaperless Babies? Waaa? Yeah, seriously. "No fucking way!", I thought. But, no. Such a cult exists. A cult, I say, cause anyone who subscribes to insane beliefs deserves to be categorized as INSANE!

Fos those that are just THAT curious, I did a search for this on the web to make sure it was legit and came across this.

www.diaperfreebaby.org

Now, don't you think babies have enough to do rather than be trained to use the potty?

Sleeping Boys

Right now, Lee and Brandon are sleeping. Lee is getting some much needed sleep cause he was up all night helping with Brandon. At about 20min to 6am, he got a massive migrane. The Advil must've kicked in cause he is asleep.

Brandon was fussy this morning. He had only a snack and was then didn't want to go back to sleep. Also, he wasn't wanting to burp. Poor kid. He tends to save his burps and poos for the daytime. He grunts durring his sleeps and therefore wakes up more often. Again, poor little guy. Holding on to gas is just not fun, whatever age you may be.

In about 15min I will be leaving to go to the dentist. Oh joy. Yeah, I could really care less. I was not able to brush my teeth very much while I was pregnant. I had too much of a gag reflex. So, if they want to reprimand me for not brushing. They're gonna get a response of "I Don't Give a Fuck!" Well, more likely the toned down version of "I don't care!"

Hopefully the dental appointment won't take long. Both my boys need me right now and I have to leave. Oh, I feel crappy. I wish I could just stay here.

Things I didn't know before...

Never pump milk in front of your child. They will freak out cause the milk is going somewhere other than to them.

Realization

Well I have talked about my issues and I am still standing firm on what I said. Not to fret everybody. These are just issues with my family. We can all relate to family issues, can we not?

My brother came over shortly after I posted my blog and therefore we talked about the events surrounding my pissy feelings. There were 2 seperate incidents that led to my crankiness. The first was with my mother-in-law, the later with my sister-in-law. Yeah. The In-Laws. Figures!

Well, he helped me come to some realizations about myself. I come from a family of isolationists. We are not big social people. I get that from my dad. He tends to not make an effort to go out and see people unless there is a need. Maybe he was different in his younger days. Who knows? My mother is a little more of the social butterfly. So the need for human contact comes from her, mostly. What a great mix! Ah, not. I also don't come from a big family. Mom, dad and brothers. That was it. That was what was most important growing up. The extensions just weren't around much. We saw Grandma in the Seattle every summer. Maybe Uncle Harry. But that was about it. Cousins moved on years ago. Back in the 80's what the last time I saw them. Don't even ask if my dad has family. I met them once for a family reunion. Yeah, when I was like five. So, the only family I have are immediete. I can't spell.

Also, I am not comfortable with people loving me for no reason. The Conrad's do. There's not reason for it. It kinda irks me.

But, I'm not going to change who I am or walk on eggshells for anybody. So, please don't take my behavior as personal. I am used to getting by on my own. The need for interaction is just not there all the time. Just be patient. That and I might still be having some post-partum moments. Hopefully, that will pass soon.

Now, on the other issue, I didn't heed my own advice on that one. I have no leg to stand on. I'm over that one. Let's just forget it.

Not Ready to Make Nice

Brandon's Big Bald Head. Well, not quite that bald.

My son kind of represents how I am feeling right now. People keep telling me how I should be or I am wrong for acting a certain way. Well you know what, Fuck you! I am not responsible for how you feel. So grab a clue and grow up and take responsability for your own fucking emotions.

3 weeks sleeping

Brandon sleeping in his brand new Chenille Blanket. Thanks for the awesome blankey T and H. "It's like sleeping on a cloud."

Well 3 weeks after giving birth to my son I am now able to fit into my pre-pregnant jeans. Thank God! There is still a bit of a bulge cause of the untrained muscles in the low-abs. But a litte pilates goes a long way.

Right now the little punk is sleeping in his vibrating chair. He is tired. He's also beginning to be the boss of his own feedings. He likes to be in control of his position and resists when I am holding him in place. He prefers feeding in bed. That way he can lie down and eat. Already lazy. Well done.

I am starting to get depressed. I don't quite feel like my old self yet. I went out today to go shopping for myself. Well, trying on clothes was depressing. Nothing fit quite right. Also there was a serious lack of customer service in the stores I visited. Yeah, the service industry sucks.

Baby Cries

Brandon is cranky. Does he even know what he wants? It is tough playing guessing games with his emotions. Last night, he just would not go down for sleep. Once I put him down in his bassinet, I would get into bed and right on cue, about 5min later, he would start to cry out. Finally, I had to hold him while he slept in my arms. He got fussy a bit, but once I cuddled him, he would ease right back into sleep. I got a few winks too, but it was tough.

Oh great, I hear him stirring now. Good God! Will this child ever get some rest?

New Day

Brandon is changing everyday. He looks different as each day passes. I can't believe how much he has changed already. I look forward to all the changes. Yes, even the bad ones.

Last night was a tough night. The temperature got pretty cold and I think Brandon wanted human warmth and comfort to get him through the night. He finally got to cuddle with mommy in the wee hours. He was resting right on my collar bone. (Not comfortable for me.) But he found some sleep for a short time at least.

Speaking of sleep, Brandon is getting some more right now. I hope he learns soon that night time is the best time to sleep. Hopefully he'll learn it without having to be held upside down.

Saw this show called Greenwing last night. That is a bizarre show. It's a cross between Faulty Towers and Scrubs. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I might check out one more episode and let you know.

Last night I had this intense pressure on my chest. When I was lying down it was worse. Turning on my side, didn't make any difference in the pain. Only sitting or standing up helped. I'm not sure what was causing this pain. It was like a weight pressing down. I doubt it is a blood clot. Lee seemed to think it might be stress. He thinks I worry too much about Brandon. I don't know. The pain is gone this morning, so I will mention it to my Doctor when I see her next. Hopefully, it is not too serious.

2 weeks Old

Now that I know how to add pictures more easily to my blog, I will be updating photos on a more regualar basis. T, you were right. Once I had the baby, I would find time to update photos. Everyone must adore him, like I do.

I must say though, I think Brandon is going to look quite a bit like his Unlce Pete. The looks he gives, just remind me of Pete. I haven't been able to capture a pic of that yet, but once I do, I will post it. And Pete, come as soon as you can arrange time off. Brandon would love to meet you. He just doesn't know it yet.

Lee and I went to register for Brandon's birth certificate. It wasn't a good day to go out. It was terribly windy. I hated taking him out today. I just wanted to cuddle him and bundle him up. I did plenty of both today. Although, I must say, Brandon is getting to favour cuddling on mommy or daddy for sleep, rather than lie comfortably in the bassinet. Hopefully, he is not spoiled by the cuddling.

Hazzah! I pooped Again!
