Fussy Baby

Ah, a happier time! I can't say for certain that Brandon is smiling for real, but he is doing the smiling thing a lot more often now. I think it might be real. You can kinda see it in his eyes. But gas is bothering him lots these days. We will just have to wait and see.

Today was a trying day for Brandon and his mother. This morning Brandon woke up with a stuffy nose. Both his nostrils were plugged. He snorts just like his mommy. Poor guy was trying to breathe with a plugged nose. Not fun for anybody. While Brandon wailed and flailed in my arms, I had to patiently use the asperator to remove his boogers. Nothing is gross anymore. I've been spit-up on and pooed on. Snot is minor.

The rest of the day was relatively comfortable for both mommy and baby. Brandon caught up on the sleep he missed last night. I was able to get a few things done around the house. Yay!

After supper, Brandon started having trouble breathing again. The same snort was back. He bawled and wailed and stiffened and flailed. Again, I had to use the asperator to remove his booger. It was painful listening to him cry. I just wanted to hold him and comfort him. But he would have none of it. Nothing would make him stop, till his discomfort went away. But removing the booger wasn't enough. He still cried. Nothing helped. I had to call daddy to help. Daddy seems to have the magic touch.

I hope the night goes as smooth as the day. Ha!

That's a really cute picture!

You can try squirting some saline drops into each of Brandon's nostrils to sort of loosen up the boogers. It makes them easier to get out with the aspirator, and moistens the nasal passage to make baby breathe easier and be more comfortable. Capital Health says you can make your own saline drops, and we did for awhile. But I found the bottle with the dropper was far easier to use, so we went with it eventually. Pick some up; it's relatively inexpensive.
